Adam Callaghan

Job: Farmer     Area: Aorangi

Adam is currently Year 13 at Timaru Boys High School and plans to become a farmer.

NZ Young Farmers Involvement:
Adam completed the In2 the Field Programme in 2012, attended Get Ahead in Temuka in 2013, and competed in the 2013 Aorangi Regional Final, gaining an invitation to compete at the 2013 Grand Final in Auckland where his team the 'Cave Men' placed 13th overall.

"My participation in these programmes has inspired me to follow through with farming. The knowledge that was shared through In2 the Field and Get Ahead about the steps people took to be where they are now really inspired me."

The Plan:
Adam is off to England in 2014 for 1 year with Lattitude, and plans to complete a Diploma of Farm Management at Lincoln University upon his return. He then plans to work for a while, putting what he's learnt to practice, before possibly returning to Lincoln for further study. However, that plan may change.

Influence's/Role Models:
Adams biggest role model is his cousin, Tim. 'He's a geologist in Australia at the moment, and has worked really hard to get to where he is now. He's planning to come back and become a farmer once he's saved enough money.'

Adam is a passionate skier, both on snow and water. He also enjoys hunting, running, squash and cooking/baking.
