Justin Boyd

Job: Farmer     Area: Otago/Southland

Justin is currently in year 13 at Menzies College and plans to become a Farmer. He owns approximately 300 ewes with lambs at foot, breeds half-bred sheep and has cattle. He works around the district for farmers doing anything from tailing, drenching and mustering to weaning, crutching, shearing, and farm minding. 

NZ Young Farmers Involvement:
He has competed in the Otago/Southland AgriKidsNZ Regional Final, making it through to Grand Final in 2009 where he was named the AgriKid of the Year. He placed 6th at the 2010 TeenAg Grand Final, and completed an In2 the Field placement in 2011 with Pete Gardyne.

"I've always wanted to go farming, i guess it's in my blood. I have enjoyed my involvement with Young Farmers and have learnt different ideas and approaches to the farming industry."

The Plan:
Justin is currently doing some Primary ITO papers through his agriculture class at school, and plans to go farming after completing Year 13 this year. 

Influence's/Role Models:
"My parents have had me out on the farm helping out my whole life. I've grown to really enjoy it and plan to continue doing it."

Motorbike trail rides, hunting, getting out on the farm.
