Primary ITO

Primary ITO provide qualifications in the agriculture, horticulture, equine, water and sports turf industries.

They offer nationally recoginised NZQA qualifications in industry sectors from dairy, sheep and beef, rural servicing, fruit and vegetable production, viticulture to wool harvesting and the water industry services.

If you don’t want to take time off to study, Primary ITO trainees learn while they’re working and earn a regular wage. A big part of Primary ITO’s role is mentoring and supporting you throughout your training journey.

Taratahi Agriculture Training Centre

Taratahi has been successfully training Kiwis for agricultural careers since 1919. Taratahi offers full-time courses, extra-mural study, short courses and STAR/Gateway programmes. Taratahi has also been chosen by the Ministry of Education as the Primary Industry Trades Academy (PITA).

The main campus is based near Masterton in the Wairarapa, with non-residential campuses in Taranaki, Hawke's Bay, Northland and Rodney.

Taratahi offers a unique learning environment, with thousands of hectares of commercial farm land, a fully residential campus and significant well-resourced teaching areas. There are a huge number of scholarships available for full time students too.

Telford - a Division of Lincoln University

 

Telford - a Division of Lincoln University 

Dedicated to skills development for those in the rural sector, Telford has been training people within the agricultural sector for over 45 years.  Telford has blended learning style of theory and applied 'Hands On' training, giving students qualifications through real world experiences.

The Division offers practical training in rural business, agriculture, rural animal technician, stock and station, horticulture, equine, forestry and apiculture (beekeeping).  Based 6km from Balclutha in South Otago on a 921ha commercial farm, Telford offers real farming experiences for live-in students.

Telford also has over 30 diverse correspondence sources so on matter where you live in New Zealand, you can still enrol at Telford The National Trade Academy has an educational partnership to deliver training with Telford.  NTA is based in Christchurch and delivers a variety of agricultural training courses.
